Bringing Australian science to global market — and looking for the people who'll do it with us.
We're a small team backing deep-tech founders from pre-seed to Series A. We hire operators — people who'd build the company they're funding if they had to — not investors-by-default.
What we believe about founders shapes who we hire to find them.
Some of the best founders in this country are immigrants — their networks, languages, and disadvantages compound into rare market access. We don't optimise for pedigree; we look for the founder whose backstory is the moat. We hire the same way — people whose path doesn't fit the standard template, and is stronger for it.
Australian startups historically went to the US first. We think the next decade belongs to teams that go to Asia first. Our partner network and on-the-ground presence in Shanghai is built around that bet. We hire people who treat that corridor as home turf — not as foreign territory.
If a document, model, or meeting doesn't change a decision or help a founder, we don't do it. Our reporting is what we owe LPs and what helps our companies — nothing else, no theatre. We hire people who'd shut down their own meeting if it wasn't earning its keep.
One role open. Always open to standout candidates.
Six things we actually mean.
Every hour should make our investors, founders, or the broader ecosystem better off. If it doesn't, we stop doing it.
Disagreement is data. We assume good intent, we challenge what we see differently, and we change our minds in public when we're wrong.
We don't track time. We hire people who own outcomes and trust them to figure out the path. Several teammates have other commitments — that's fine.
Most communication is Slack, Notion, and shared docs. Live meetings are reserved for things they actually need to be. Your time zone shouldn't be a barrier.
Ship the v1, share it early, let the feedback shape v2. Working on live documents is the norm; finished documents are the exception.
Underpromise feels safe and lowers the bar. Aim for what you're supposed to deliver, then deliver more. Smart-effort over perfectionist-effort.
Don't see your role?
We hire opportunistically when we meet someone exceptional. If that's you — engineer, analyst, ops, or something we haven't thought of — write to career@boson.vc with a paragraph on why and a link to your work.
